4:3:2:2:1:1 Rule For a Minimal Pin Kit
In this video, Zach will cover the equipment that you'll need to practice the techniques shown in this course. As a minimum we like the 4:3:2:2:1:1 rule for rescue gear.
- 4 Locking Carabiners
- 3 Pulleys
- 2 Prusiks
- 2 Lengths of Webbing
- 1 Flip Line
- 1 Static Line and/or Throw Bag
If you're working with larger rafts, gear rafts, and larger rivers you'll want a solid static lines. For small, light rafts on smaller rivers a solid throw bag can sometimes be enough. For the course a good throw bag is adequate for creating mechanical advantage systems.
Outfitter Pin Kit
Guides and outfitters bring more than the basic 4:3:2:2:1:1 pin kit listed above. The PDF below details the contents of kits that Northwest Rafting Company brings on their multi-day river trips.
